Homemade Mint Lemonade

Jump to Recipe
Spread the love

One of the things I learned when I moved to Virginia is that warm weather begins early in the year. In Montréal, you are lucky if you can walk outside in a t-shit in May. In Richmond, it already feels like summer by April.

While water is my drink of choice, on some days, it is so warm and you crave something cold and sweet. Enter this lemonade. This has all the deliciousness of regular lemonade but has a fresh minty kick to it. It is the perfect way to refresh and keep going about your day when the weather is blistering outside.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 bunch Mint Leaves
  • 5 Lemons
  • TBD cups Water

Instructions

  1. Make your simple syrup: take the 1 cup of water and 1 cup of sugar and mix them together on high heat. Once the sugar is entirely dissolved, toss in your mint leaves. Let the mint flavor be absorbed into the simple syrup.
  2. Meanwhile, halve the lemons and get all the juice out of them. Put the juice into a pitcher as you go!
  3. It is really up to you to decide how much water you wish to have in the overall lemonade. The less you have, the more concentrated the flavor.
  4. Add the simple syrup to your taste. It is sweet, so, be mindful!
  5. Place in the fridge and allow it to adequately chill. Once it is cool, serve, and enjoy!
